A snap frame is an aluminium poster frame with four hinged edges that flip open, so you change the poster from the front while the frame stays on the wall. Lift the four sides, drop your print in behind the clear cover, press them shut. No tools, no screws to undo, about ten seconds a change.

We stock the Larstons Manhattan range and Quartet frames from A4 right up to A0, plus floor stands, double-sided footpath signboards and snap rail kits for hanging posters. Finishes are silver or black anodised aluminium.

The size on the frame is the poster size: A4 is 210 x 297mm, A3 is 297 x 420mm, A2 is 420 x 594mm, A1 is 594 x 841mm and A0 is 841 x 1189mm. The aluminium border sits outside those measurements, so allow a little extra wall space around the print.

All four edges are hinged. You pull each side outward and it springs up, you lift the clear cover, drop your poster in, and press the sides flat again. The frame stays fixed to the wall the whole time, so changing a poster takes about ten seconds and no tools.

It is the width of the visible aluminium border. Standard profile is the slimmer 25mm face for a neat look. Wide profile has a deeper 18mm face that stands out more and reads better from a distance or on a large wall. Both load identically.

The standard wall and floor frames are designed for indoor use. For footpaths, entrances and anywhere exposed to wind and weather, use the A1 footpath signboard, which folds like an A-frame and has a water-fillable base to keep it stable outdoors.

Yes. Snap frames are square-cornered and symmetrical, so the same frame works either way. You set the orientation when you load the poster, and you can switch it any time you change the print.

A snap rail kit is just the top and bottom rails, no left or right sides. You snap a poster or banner between the two rails so it hangs flat against the wall. It suits longer banners and a more open look, where a full four-sided frame would box the print in.

No. A floor stand is a snap frame mounted on a weighted pedestal base, so it stands on its own anywhere on the floor. The Manhattan premium floor stands are double-sided, which means a poster shows on both faces for two-way foot traffic.

Each frame includes a clear anti-glare PVC sheet that lays over the poster inside the frame. It shields the print from fingerprints, dust and scuffs, and it lifts out so you can replace it if it gets scratched over time.

Silver is the all-rounder and blends into most interiors and shopfronts. Black suits darker walls, hospitality fit-outs and a gallery look. They are the same frame in a different anodised finish, so choose on appearance alone.

Wall, floor or footpath?

Snap frames come in four mounting styles. Pick by where the poster needs to go:

  • Wall frames (Manhattan & Quartet) — the standard flat frame that fixes to a wall. A4, A3, A2, A1, A0. Silver or black.
  • Wide profile frames — the same snap-open frame with a deeper 18mm face, so the border reads from further away. Good for reception walls and larger posters.
  • Floor stands — a snap frame on a weighted pedestal base. Double-sided, freestanding, no wall needed. A4 and A3.
  • A-frame & footpath signboards — folding pavement signs with a water-fillable base to hold them steady outdoors. Double-sided A1.
  • Snap rail kits — top and bottom rails only, for hanging a poster or banner against a wall without a full surround.

Choosing a size, from A4 to A0

Snap frames are named for the poster they hold, not the outside dimension, so an A2 frame fits an A2 poster (420 x 594mm) with the frame border sitting outside that. The jump in scale matters more than people expect: A4 (210 x 297mm) suits a desk or a notice next to a door, A3 and A2 work at eye level on a wall, and A1 (594 x 841mm) and A0 (841 x 1189mm) are the sizes that read across a room or a shopfront. Every size takes a poster in either orientation, so you choose portrait or landscape when you slide the print in, not when you buy.

Standard profile or wide profile

Manhattan frames come in two face widths. The standard 25mm profile is the everyday choice and keeps the border tidy. The wide profile has a deeper 18mm face that gives a heavier, more visible surround, which helps a poster hold its own on a big empty wall or where people view it from a distance. Both open and load exactly the same way. It is purely how thick you want the frame to look.

Indoors against outdoors

Most snap frames are built for indoor use: shop windows, reception areas, lift lobbies, staff noticeboards. If the frame lives outside or in a doorway that catches weather, the footpath signboard is the one made for it. It folds like an A-frame, takes a poster each side, and has a base you fill with water to weigh it down against wind. For a fixed display behind glass that you rarely change, a sealed poster frame may suit better, and for counter and shelf signage our sign holders hold smaller cards upright without any wall fixing.

Finish, corners and the front cover

Frames are anodised aluminium in silver or black. Silver is the default and disappears into most fit-outs; black suits darker walls and gallery-style hangs. Corners are mitred (a clean 45-degree join) on the Manhattan and Quartet ranges. Each frame ships with a clear anti-glare PVC sheet that sits over the poster to protect it from fingerprints and dust, and that sheet lifts out if you ever need to replace it.

Manhattan against Quartet

Two brands sit in this range. Larstons Manhattan is the broader line, covering every size plus the wide profiles, floor stands, footpath signs and rail kits. Quartet is the ACCO frame, stocked in A4 through A1 as a straightforward wall option. Both are front-loading aluminium snap frames and work the same in daily use, so the choice usually comes down to which size and mounting style you need rather than the badge.

Pairing snap frames with your other displays

Snap frames cover the poster side of things, but most fit-outs run a few display types side by side.
