What is the difference between a copysafe pocket and an L-shaped pocket?

A copysafe pocket is open along the top edge only and holds a sheet fully enclosed, which suits pages that get flicked through in a binder. An L-shaped pocket is open along the top and one side, so a document slides in and out fast for quick reference, but it holds the page less securely. Use copysafe for filing, L-shaped for documents you handle often.

Do these pockets fit a ring binder?

Copysafe pockets are punched with the universal multi-hole pattern and clip straight into 2, 3 and 4-ring binders and lever arch files. L-shaped pockets are usually loose rather than punched, designed to sit on a desk or in a display rather than bind into a folder.

What fasteners hold paper without a stapler?

Paper fasteners and 3-piece filing fasteners thread through punched holes and lock pages flat, so you can add and remove sheets while keeping them in order. They suit files that change, where a staple would have to be cut out and redone each time.

Are these the right page protectors for archival storage?

Copysafe and premium copysafe pockets protect pages from handling, dust and finger marks in everyday filing. For long-term archival storage of important documents, acid-free archival sleeves are the better choice, since standard pockets are not rated for decades of contact with the paper.

The bits that go inside

Every binder and folder needs filling out with the consumables that actually organise the paper, and that is what this page collects. None of it is the folder itself. It is the dividers, pockets, protectors and fasteners that turn an empty binder into a working file, and the refills you reach for when the last lot runs out. The four main types each have their own range, linked below.

Dividers and indices. Tabbed dividers and indices in cardboard and polyprop, from 5 and 10 tabs to A-Z and 1-31, split a binder into sections you can flick straight to.
Pockets and protectors. Copysafe pockets and sheet protectors enclose a single page so it survives constant handling in a reference binder.
L-shaped pockets. L-shaped pockets open along two sides for a document you slide in and out for quick reference rather than long-term filing.
Clips and fasteners. Clips and fasteners bind loose paper flat without a stapler, so pages add and remove while staying in order.
