How an invoice book works

An invoice book is a carbonless duplicate book: you write the invoice on the top sheet and a copy transfers to the sheet underneath, with no carbon paper needed. It is the straightforward way to issue and record a sale for a trade, market stall or cash job away from a till and POS.

A duplicate book keeps one copy, so the customer takes the top sheet and you keep the copy. A triplicate book keeps two copies, which suits giving one to the customer, filing one and leaving one in the book. Choose by how much of a paper trail you need across the office.
