Match the label to the gun model. A Quikstik Mark I single-line gun takes 22 x 12mm labels, the double-line Mark II takes 23 x 16mm, and Meto guns use their own sizes such as 11 x 18mm for the 718 and 16 x 22mm for the 1522. Labels from one gun will not feed through another, so order by your model.

Removable labels use a repositionable adhesive that peels off cleanly without residue, which suits retail pricing and markdowns where labels get changed. Permanent labels bond and stay put, which is what you want for best before, use by and batch dates that should not be removed.

They are date labels with the wording Best Before or Use By already printed on them, so the gun only stamps the date rather than the whole line. That keeps a busy kitchen or production line fast and consistent, and both come with a permanent adhesive since they are safety and quality dates.

Yes, eventually. The labels are blank until the ink roller marks them on the way out, and the roller fades with use. One black ink roller fits both the Quikstik Mark I and Mark II, so it is worth keeping a spare alongside your label rolls.

The Meto-fit labels are a compatible label sized to suit Meto guns such as the 1522, but they are not manufactured by Meto. They work in the gun the same way; they are simply a lower-cost alternative to the branded roll.

Pricing and date gun label refills

Gun labels are not one size fits all, so the first thing to check is which gun you run. A Quikstik Mark I takes a different size to the Mark II, and Meto guns use their own sizes again, so a label that fits one will not feed through another. Once the size is right, the next choice is the adhesive: removable labels peel off cleanly for retail pricing, while permanent labels stay put for date coding.

From there it comes down to the job. Plain white covers everyday pricing, fluoro yellow makes a sale price stand out, and date labels come with Best Before or Use By already printed so the gun only stamps the date. The black ink roller is the other consumable, and one roller fits both the Mark I and Mark II.

Match the label to your gun

Every label here is cut to suit a specific gun, and the two are not interchangeable, so getting the size right is the whole job. A Quikstik Mark I single-line gun takes a 22 x 12mm label, while the larger double-line Mark II takes 23 x 16mm to fit its two rows of print. Meto guns are a separate system again, each model sized to its own roll. If a label is even a couple of millimetres out it will not feed cleanly, so start from the gun and work back. The second choice is how firmly the label needs to hold, and it matters more than it sounds. A removable, repositionable adhesive lifts off cleanly without leaving residue, which is what you want for retail pricing, repricing and markdowns where the label comes off again. A permanent adhesive bonds and stays put, the right pick for a best before, a use by or a batch date that should not be peeled off the pack. Choosing the wrong one is the usual cause of either labels falling off, or labels that will not come off without a fight.

After size and adhesive, the rest is about the job in front of you. Plain white labels suit everyday pricing, while fluoro yellow makes a price jump off the shelf for sales and clearance, with a removable adhesive so it peels off once the promotion ends. Date labels can come with the wording already printed, Best Before or Use By, so the gun only adds the date and a line keeps moving fast.
