Buying envelopes comes down to two choices: the size and the way it seals. Get the size right for what's going inside (DLE for a folded letter, C4 for an A4 sheet flat), then pick a seal: Seal Easi peels and presses shut, Tropical Seal is a gummed flap you moisten, and Peel & Seal pulls a strip. From there it's white or manilla, window or plain, and whether you want NZ Post prepaid so you can post without buying stamps. We stock them in small packs and bulk boxes.

It depends on whether you fold it. A DLE holds an A4 sheet folded into thirds, a C5 holds it folded once, and a C4 holds it flat and unfolded. Use a C4 when the document shouldn't be creased.

Seal Easi is a self-seal strip you peel and press shut. Tropical Seal is a gummed flap you moisten to close and has a long shelf life. Peel & Seal has a covered adhesive strip you pull off and fold down. All three seal securely; the difference is how you close them.

Prepaid envelopes have the NZ Post postage already paid. You address and seal them, then post them without buying stamps. They come in DLE, C5 and C4 with or without a window.

Use a window envelope when the address is printed on the letter inside, so it shows through the clear panel. It saves writing or labelling each envelope. Use plain envelopes for handwritten or labelled mail.

White envelopes are the tidy choice for customer-facing post. Manilla is the kraft-brown envelope, which is tougher and cheaper, so it suits internal mail and bulk send-outs.

Pick your size, then your seal

Most people start with the size. A DLE fits an A4 letter or invoice folded into thirds, which is the one offices get through the most. If you're sending something that shouldn't be creased, like a contract or certificate, step up to a C4 that holds A4 flat. A C5 sits in between for an A4 folded once or an A5 sheet, and a C6 suits a card or compliments slip.

Once the size is sorted, the only other call is how it seals. Seal Easi peels and presses shut, Tropical Seal is a gummed flap you wet, and Peel & Seal pulls a strip. After that it's white or manilla, and whether you want a window so the address shows through.

Window or plain, white or manilla

Wage pockets and labelopes

Not everything is a letter. Wage envelopes are small manilla pockets for cash, petty cash, keys or small parts, with a peel-and-seal flap so they stay shut. Labelopes are clear pouches you stick to the outside of a parcel to hold the packing slip or address label, so the paperwork travels with the box and stays dry. Both come in bulk packs for a busy dispatch bench.
