How do I know which cartridge fits my printer?

Two ways. Either type your printer model into the search bar (it's usually on a sticker on the front, top, or back of the printer — something like "HP OfficeJet 8025" or "Brother MFC-L2750DW"), or grab your old empty and search the cartridge code printed on it (e.g. "HP 305XL", "TN-2450", "PG-645XL"). If you're not sure, send us a chat with your printer model and we'll point you to the right one before you check out. Better than ordering the wrong cartridge.

Genuine vs compatible — what's actually the difference?

Genuine (also called OEM) cartridges are made by the printer manufacturer — HP cartridges from HP, Brother from Brother, etc. Compatibles are made by third parties to fit the same printer. Both work. Genuine costs more and is backed by the printer manufacturer's warranty. Compatibles are typically 40–60% cheaper and are backed by our own warranty — if one fails or causes a printer issue, we replace it. Most people buying for a busy office go compatible to save money. People with photo printers or under printer warranty tend to stick with genuine.

Will a compatible cartridge void my printer warranty?

In NZ, no — under the Consumer Guarantees Act, manufacturers can't void your warranty just because you used a third-party cartridge. They can only refuse warranty if the compatible cartridge actually caused the fault. The compatibles we sell are tested to print without issue. That said, if you're inside the first year on a brand-new expensive printer, genuine is the safe call.

What's the difference between standard and XL / high-yield cartridges?

Same physical cartridge, more ink or toner inside. An XL prints roughly 2–3× the pages of the standard version. They cost more upfront but work out 30–50% cheaper per page. Rough rule: if you print more than 50 pages a week, XL pays for itself fast. If you print occasionally, standard is fine — just check the expiry.

Do cartridges expire?

Yes. Sealed ink cartridges last about 18–24 months, sealed toner cartridges 24–36 months. Everything we ship is well inside that window. To make yours last: keep them sealed in the box, store upright, out of direct sunlight, and don't open the foil until you're ready to install. These are a general guidance and actual expiry of your toner or ink may vary. Refer to any expiry information on the ink supplied to you.
