The right printer paper depends on the machine feeding it. Laser, inkjet and digital presses each want different stock, and a coated sheet meant for inkjet can jam or scorch in a laser. We sort our range by weight, finish and machine type so you load the correct paper first time.

Uncoated or laser-rated stock. Many gloss and satin coated papers are marked not suitable for laser, because the heat that fuses toner can damage the coating.

90 to 120gsm reduces show-through for double-sided documents. Standard 80gsm is fine for everyday single-side work.

SRA3 is 450 x 320mm, slightly larger than A3, giving digital presses and offset machines bleed room. Print shops and in-house design teams use it.

Match the paper to your printer

  • Laser printers run hot — stick to uncoated or laser-rated stock; many gloss/satin coated sheets are not laser-safe
  • Inkjet printers love coated gloss and satin for sharp, vivid output
  • Heavier gsm (120–350) for covers, presentations and double-sided work that shouldn't show through
  • SRA3 and grain-specific stock for digital presses and offset, including Spicers Sapphire and ColorCopy

Not all printers support all weights and types of paper so check yours first.

Printer paper that suits your machine

Paper is not one-size-fits-all once you care about output. The wrong stock in the wrong printer means jams, smudging, curl or a coating that will not take the ink. Here is how to pick.

Laser vs inkjet

Laser printers fuse toner with heat, so they want uncoated or specifically laser-rated paper. A lot of our gloss and satin coated stock is flagged not suitable for laser for exactly that reason. Inkjet printers spray liquid ink, so coated gloss and satin sheets give you the crispest, most vivid result. If a product says not for laser, it is an inkjet or offset sheet.

Coated, uncoated and grain

Uncoated is your all-rounder. Coated gloss and satin lift photo and marketing work but are usually inkjet or offset only. For digital presses we stock Spicers Sapphire Laser Offset and ColorCopy in long and short grain, so you can match the grain to the fold direction of your finished job.

SRA3 and larger

SRA3 (450 x 320mm) gives digital and offset machines the bleed area they need beyond A3. We carry it across a wide gsm range in both grains.
