Tape labellers print a laminated strip from a cassette, the kind you stick on a shelf edge, a cable, a folder spine or a piece of equipment. They're built to last, resist water and rubbing, and the handheld models like the Brother PTH110 work straight away with a built-in keyboard, no computer required. Bluetooth models like the Brother PTP710BT let you design the label on your phone first. Brother machines use TZe tape, which comes in a range of widths and colours, and the width the machine accepts is listed on each model.

Roll label printers

Roll printers feed die-cut labels from a roll and use direct thermal printing, so there's no ink, toner or ribbon to buy. Industrial and barcode printers
