The brand that invented the laptop lock

That small reinforced slot on the side of nearly every laptop has a name: the Kensington Security Slot. Kensington created it, and their locks are built to fit it. A cable lock loops around a fixed point like a desk leg and clicks into that slot, so a laptop cannot simply be picked up and carried off. The range runs from the original MicroSaver to the newer ClickSafe and the slimline NanoSaver for the smaller Nano slot on thin laptops, in both keyed and combination versions. Docking stations: one cable, whole desk

A Kensington dock turns a laptop into a proper workstation with a single connection. The SD-series docks add monitors, ethernet, USB ports and audio, and the USB-C and Thunderbolt models charge the laptop at the same time, so you plug in one cable and everything wakes up. Trackballs, mice and keyboards

Kensington is best known in this space for the Expert Mouse, a large trackball that has been on designers' desks for years because you move the pointer without moving your arm. Privacy screens and SmartFit ergonomics

Two ranges finish off the desk. MagPro privacy screens darken your display to anyone at an angle, and the magnetic versions click on and lift off in seconds, which suits anyone who only needs privacy some of the time. They are cut to fit a specific laptop or monitor size, so match the size when you order. The SmartFit range covers monitor arms, laptop and monitor risers, wrist rests and footrests, and its trick is sizing: you measure against a colour chart so the gear fits your body rather than a one-size guess.
