They write in thermo-sensitive gel ink. The firm stud on the end of the pen is not a rubber eraser. Rubbing it over your writing creates friction and heat, which turns the ink clear. There are no crumbs and the paper is not damaged, so you can write over the same spot again.

No, it is designed to be erased, and it is heat and cold sensitive. High heat makes the ink disappear, and cold brings it back. If writing vanishes in a hot car, a few minutes in the freezer usually restores it. For that reason Frixion is not suited to legal documents, contracts, cheques or exams.

Which Frixion is right for you?

How Frixion erasable ink works

Frixion pens use a thermo-sensitive gel ink. The pen has a firm stud on the end, not a rubber eraser. Rub it over your writing and the friction heats the ink past about 60 degrees, which turns it clear. There are no crumbs, no smudging and no torn paper, and you can write straight back over the same spot. It is the tidy way to correct planners, diaries, study notes and drafts.

Clicker, Ball or Point

The Frixion Clicker is the retractable everyday pen, with a push button and no cap to lose, in a fine 0.7mm or broad 1.0mm tip. The Frixion Ball is the capped version in fine 0.7mm. The Frixion Point is a capped ultra-fine 0.4mm for small, neat handwriting. Most come in black, blue and red, with violet, green, pink, orange and light blue across the range, in singles and assorted colour packs.

Highlighters, markers and refills

It is not just pens. Frixion Light erasable highlighters let you mark and unmark a page without crossing it out for good, and Frixion Colours fibre-tip markers erase the same way for colour-coding and journaling. When a pen fades, keep the barrel and drop in a matching fine or broad refill instead of replacing the whole pen.

Good to know before you buy

Because the ink is heat-sensitive, it disappears in high heat, so keep Frixion pens out of a hot car and away from laminators. Cold brings the writing back, so a few minutes in the freezer restores anything that has vanished. For the same reason, Frixion is not the pen for legal documents, contracts, cheques or exams, where a permanent pen is required. It shines for everyday writing you want to change: planners, calendars, bullet journals, whiteboarded plans and study notes.
