Brother splits its lasers into two parts: the TN toner cartridge you change often and the DR drum that lasts across several toners. Match the TN number on your old cartridge, pick standard or high-yield, and check whether the drum is due too. Genuine Brother and compatible versions sit side by side, and the full toner cartridges range covers every other brand.

TN is the toner cartridge that holds the toner and runs out often. DR is the drum unit that carries the image to the page and lasts across several toner changes. They are separate parts, so check whether your printer needs new toner, a new drum or both.
Read the TN code off your old cartridge or open the printer's supplies menu. Match that exact number, for example TN2445 or TN237, since close numbers fit different machines.
High-yield is the same toner in a larger size that prints more pages before a change. It costs a little more up front but works out cheaper per page, so it suits busier printers.
Compatible cartridges are brand-new third-party parts built to the same fit, and they print to the yields shown for less than genuine. Genuine Brother cartridges are also available if you prefer the brand.
Brother makes both laser and inkjet machines. If yours is an inkjet it takes LC ink rather than TN toner, which you will find in our Brother ink cartridges range.

TN toner or DR drum, standard or high-yield

Find the number on your old cartridge or in the printer menu, a TN2445, a TN237, a TN1070, and match it exactly. TN is the toner that runs out often; DR is the drum that lasts across several toner changes, so check whether you need one, the other or both. Most numbers come standard or high-yield, the bigger size printing more pages for a small extra cost.

A mono Brother takes a single black toner, while a colour one takes four that you change as each runs down, plus a waste toner pack in time. Genuine Brother and compatible cartridges both fit and print to the yields shown, so the choice comes down to price.
