Brother ink, all of it. Original and compatible LC cartridges from the current LC432 and LC3319 down to older LC233 and LC73, in standard and XL, as singles or four-colour value packs. Go by the LC number. It is printed on the cartridge you are replacing and shown in your printer's menu or manual, for example LC432, LC3319 or LC233. Match that number exactly. Most listings also name the Brother printers a cartridge fits, so you can search by your printer model instead.
They look almost the same but are not interchangeable and fit different Brother printers. Always read the full number off the cartridge you are taking out, not just the LC43 part, and match it exactly before ordering.
XL cartridges hold more ink, usually around twice as much, for a small jump in price, so they work out cheaper per page. Unless you barely print, the XL is the better buy. The standard size suits light or occasional use.
Brother black is sold on its own and the three colours separately, so you can replace just the one that runs out. A value pack bundles all four colours in one box, which is cheaper and tidier when the whole set is low or you want spares on hand.
Brother makes both inkjet and laser printers. Inkjets take LC ink cartridges, shown on this page. Laser printers take TN toner and a DR drum unit instead, which you will find in our toner cartridges range. Check whether your cartridge code starts with LC or TN.

Find your LC number, then standard or XL

Every Brother ink cartridge is an LC number, and that number is how you find the right one. It is printed on the cartridge you are replacing and shown in your printer's menu, for example LC432 on a current MFC machine, LC3319 on the A3 business range, or an older LC233. Match it exactly and the cartridge will fit. One to watch: LC431 and LC432 are a digit apart and do not swap, so read the full code.

Most numbers come in standard and XL. The XL holds more ink for a small extra cost and works out cheaper per page, so it is the one to buy unless you print very little. Black is always sold on its own and the three colours separately, with value packs that bundle all four when you want a full refill in one box.

Find your LC number

Brother ink is simple once you know the number. Every cartridge is an LC code, printed on the cartridge you are taking out and shown in the printer's menu or manual, for example LC432 on a current MFC machine, LC3319 on the A3 business range, or an older LC233 or LC73. Type that number into search and match it exactly. Most listings also name the printers a cartridge fits, so you can check by your Brother model instead. One number trap is worth knowing: LC431 and LC432 are a single digit apart and fit different printers, so read the full code, not just the LC43 part.

Standard or XL

Nearly every Brother number comes in two sizes: standard and XL. The XL holds more ink, often about twice as much, for a small jump in price, which makes it cheaper per page. Unless you only print now and then, the XL is the better buy and the easiest way to cut your running cost without changing anything else. Both sizes drop into the same printer; only the ink volume differs.

Buy singles or a value pack

Brother black is always sold on its own, and the cyan, magenta and yellow separately, so you can replace just the colour that has run dry. That keeps day-to-day costs down. When the whole set is low, a value pack bundles all four colours in one box for less than buying each on its own, which suits an office that wants a full refill or a few spares in the drawer. Colour-only three-packs are there too, for when the black is still going but the photos have drained the rest.

Original Brother or compatible

Original cartridges are Brother's own. Compatible cartridges are brand new, built by another maker to the same LC fit and sold for less, and most homes and offices switch to them once the printer is out of warranty. We list original and compatible against the same number so you can compare and choose on price, and both print to the yields shown. The compatible LC packs from Icon are a popular saving on the common LC432 and LC3319 machines.
